Dr. Willems is CFD & Multi-Physics Development Engineer at the Essen office of ESI Software Germany GmbH as of August 2013.
Dr. Willems received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Kaiserslautern in 2009. Prior to his employment with ESI Software Germany GmbH he held the position of a research scientist at the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics, Linz, Austria. From 2009 to 2010 he was working as visiting assistant professor at Texas A&M University. Besides this he held the position of a research assistant at Fraunhofer ITWM.
Dr. Willems has authored one monograph, seven papers in key international journals in the area of numerical mathematics, one book chapter, and several conference proceeding articles. Besides he has presented his scientific results at numerous international conferences over the past years. Dr. Willems was awarded several fellowships by the German National Academic Foundation, the Rotrary Foundation of Rotary International, and the German Academic Exchange Service. In 2008 he was awarded the Hugo-Geiger prize for the results presented in his master thesis.
